Jacob Brown, LPC, has worked in clinical practice for five years, beginning his training alongside clinical psychologists and other experienced clinicians. Over that time, he has developed an integrative approach informed by cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, acceptance-based, motivational, solution-focused, and structured problem-solving traditions, with additional training and experience in EMDR and trauma-focused work.
His approach is deliberately practical rather than tied to a single school of therapy. Jacob draws from established methods according to the person, the concern, and the evidence available. He continues to refine his own trauma-informed way of organizing treatment, drawing from several established theories rather than presenting it as a separate or fully developed model. At the center of that work is a person-centered stance: clients should be able to speak openly, examine difficult parts of their lives, and expect to be met with respect, curiosity, and without unnecessary judgment.
Jacob places particular value on research, clinical evidence, and treatments that have demonstrated meaningful benefit. His goal is not to apply a favored technique to every person, but to understand what is happening, determine what may be maintaining it, and use the most appropriate tools available to help create meaningful change.
His academic background includes a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction and a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. That combination informs an approach that values both careful clinical reasoning and the ability to make complex ideas understandable and useful. He is independently licensed as a Professional Counselor in Arizona.
